![]() The game is a 3D platformer game, starring a character of the same name. The code for the doppelganger is still in the game files, but causes a game crash if used.Vexx is a video game developed by Acclaim for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube consoles released in 2003. Special mention in terms of unused riddles goes to not only the aforementioned Sigil missions, but a hidden mission in each world involving locating a Vexx doppelganger and apparently racing them. ![]() Apparently, of the 144 planned, only 81 made it in. Also done by the same guy, is this video that details the removed riddles in Vexx. There were 6 in each world, 36 in all, but all but one (missed by Acclaim most likely due to the placement of it) ended up cut. In an early report of the game, it was mentioned that there was an entire quest involving "unlocking the secrets of the Astani language." This quest was in the form of the Sigil items, small disks with an Astani letter or number engraved on them. All that remains of it is a tapestry in the Hall of Heroes showing it possibly being used and text in the files that would've appeared once Vexx got the disk for it. A water suit was planned for inclusion, most likely allowing Vexx to breathe underwater and possibly enter freezing water as well. However, the developer interview mentioned above officially confirms that this part of the story is no longer canon, having been removed to make Vexx more of an "everyman hero." Oddly, the tapestries in the Hall of Heroes seem to display Valdini using the War Talons and their powers, showing that this plot point might've been removed late in development. Located in the game files are unused dialogue for Darby, some of which reveal more of Vexx's backstory in that his father was the original user of the War Talons, until he and his wife were murdered in their sleep by Yabu and buried in the Hall of Heroes. In the same interview, it was confirmed that a major reason why Clip and Mischief, an early draft of the game, ended up cut was because they were afraid of being accused of ripping off Jak and Daxter.According to a developer interview, Vexx's original name, Jinx, was meant to be indicative of his "habit of getting himself into bad luck." However, due to legal issues with the name, they changed it to Vexx, indicative of him "turning his bad luck on his enemies.".A GBA version was planned, but it never materialized, most likely due to budget or time constraints. Some of Vexx's early designs show him as looking more rodent-like with a long tail or more akin to a villain. This same trailer also shows rain pouring on one level when weather patterns aren't even in the final game (except for Frostblight Mill, where snow can be seen falling.) An early trailer for the game reveals that Vexx was once planned to have a wider vocal range in terms of his yells and growls. Why they were left in the guide despite being absent from the game itself is unknown. In the official strategy guide for the game, three unused enemies can be seen in the 'Enemies' section. The scrapped worlds include The Temple of Nanyk (which was reused in the Neverglades), Talon's Maw, Undertow Tower, Submarilis (reused for a subarea in Timberdale), Devil's Well, Pyroseum, Sorrow's End, and Mirrorrim.18 worlds were planned for inclusion, but only 8 of them made it in, most likely due to time constraints. It is also mentioned by Reia in one cutscene that Vexx needs to activate three outer structures of Astara, a missing plot point perhaps? ![]() According to some press releases, Vexx was originally going to confront and presumably battle Yabu at the Landspire (the mysterious tower floating out of reach in every level). In this speed run, developer Kynan Pearson talks about content and concepts that didn't make it into the game, reasons why initial ideas were scrapped, and other interesting info. ![]() There were also going to be blood effects and even a four-player multiplayer. There was also supposed to be a level before the tutorial for sneaking into Yabu's ship to acquire the Talons.
